Story Submission Agreement

This agreement covers stories submitted through Ghost Calls Stories' "Submit a Story" feature. By submitting a story, you agree to these terms in addition to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to submit a story. By submitting, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Content rules

Your submission must not contain:

• Real patients' names, real officers'/medics'/firefighters' names, real addresses, or any other information that could identify a real person involved in a real incident, without their explicit consent. If your story is based on something that actually happened, change identifying details enough that no real person could be recognized from it.
• Protected health information, confidential law enforcement records, or any other information you were only able to access because of a professional or official role, and that you're not permitted to disclose publicly.
• Content you don't have the rights to — don't submit someone else's writing as your own.
• Anything illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that violates another person's privacy or publicity rights.

We are not able to verify the truth of anything you submit. Treat every submission, including your own, as a work of fiction — that's how it will be presented in the app regardless of whether it's based on a real event.

3. No compensation

Submitting a story is voluntary. We do not pay for submissions, whether or not they're approved and published.

4. Rights you grant us

If we approve your submission for publication, you grant Ghost Calls Stories a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to reproduce, publish, distribute, narrate (including via on-device text-to-speech), edit, and adapt your submission for display within the app and its associated marketing, for as long as it remains published. You retain ownership of your submission; this is a license, not a transfer of copyright. You may request removal at any time (see Section 6), which ends the license going forward.

5. Review and approval

Submitting a story does not guarantee it will be reviewed within any particular timeframe, or approved at all. We may deny any submission for any reason, at our sole discretion, including but not limited to the content rules in Section 2, quality, tone, length, or duplication of existing content. We are not obligated to explain a denial.

6. Removal

We may remove or unpublish any approved submission at any time, for any reason, without notice. If you'd like your own submission removed, contact us using the details below.

7. Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you submit. You agree to indemnify and hold Ghost Calls Stories harmless from any claim, loss, or damage arising from your submission, including claims that it violates someone's privacy, is defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights.

8. Attribution

You may optionally provide a name to be credited if your story is published. If you leave this blank, your story will be published without an attributed author. We may display the name you provide as given — please don't submit someone else's name without their permission.

9. Privacy of your submission

Unapproved and denied submissions are not visible anywhere in the app and are only accessible to us for review purposes. See our Privacy Policy for more on how submission data is handled.

10. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of [State of Ohio, USA"], without regard to conflict of law principles.

11. Changes to this agreement

We may update this agreement from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the submission feature after changes means you accept the updated agreement.
